Scope of Work
The University Network Services (UNS) is responsible for the planning,
design, development, operation and management of The AUC data network.
These activities include:
- Providing direct access to all computing resources
and information servers in the university, enabling the use of various
distributed computing environments within the schools and research
centers.
- Coordinating, hosting, and maintaining the university
links to the World Wide Internet through different Internet providers,
Raya, Nour, NOL, Tedata, and Egynet.
- Offering network consulting services for network
design, installation, and management for the university constituency.
- Configuring and installing the suitable communications/networking
software suite on the university wide workstations.
- Opening and maintaining E-mail & Internet
accounts for the AUC community on different available platforms.
- Providing all data communication activities
within AUC, including on-campus, off-campus, and remote dial-in
services.
- Offering Video conferencing Services to any
facility around the world using various connection methods, ISDN,
IP and gateway connection.
- Offering technical support in the area of network
configuration, troubleshooting, and correction.
- Providing physical connectivity and cable installation
through its specialized staff.
